Bradenton

Paradise is often found in well-kept secrets. Bradenton, in Manatee County is one of the best kept secrets in the state of Florida.

We are super easy to get to, with 4 major airports within a 90-minute drive, including one that is centrally located, straddled along the county lines of both Manatee and Sarasota.

An endless expanse of breathtaking turquoise water is just about the only thing that might lure you from the white sands of Coquina Beach, Holmes Beach and Bean Point. Make sure to remember to browse for starfish, decorative fishing net at the many shops along either Bridge Street, and Central and North Anna Maria Island‘s shopping districts, and sleuth out some of those little bottles of amazing orange scented perfume that are known as being the ‘scent of Florida’ (refills for which, once you’re hooked, I’ve made sure to have handy for you here)!

Kayak or SUP? Check! Salt waterways and walking/biking trails wind through bird laden mangroves and wild palms through North West Bradenton’s Robinson Preserve.

Watch the lights and boats along downtown Bradenton’s The Riverwalk dancing with their own reflections atop the glistening Manatee River.

Manatee lovers: brace for cuteness overload! The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature and Planetarium brings you up close to Meet the Manatees who are being rehabilitated from injuries towards their return to Gulf waters.  Make sure to leave time for this facility’s crystal clear, digital quality full-dome planetarium theater, where you are taken to outer space for an experiential adventure on par with some of the country’s finest.

Watch the dreams of young, future MLB players come true as Spring Training comes to LECOM Park through February and March (home of the Pittsburgh Pirates). This hospitable stadium, formerly known as McKechnie Field, is also home to Bradenton’s Triple A Marauders.

Dine and shop-until-you-drop (not necessarily in that order!) at the diverse Shoppes at University Center and Ellenton Premium Outlets, where my mom bought her four favorite purses 😉

Lakewood Ranch is a 31,000-acre community that extends into both Sarasota and Manatee counties and ranks as one of America’s fastest growing communities. In its delightful town center, you’ll discover upscale dining, cafes and charming shops that sell one-of-a-kind treasures.  In this pocket of town, you’ll also find Lakewood Ranch Cinemas tucked into a space that aesthetically takes you back in time to a nostalgic and charmed movie-going era, complete with delicious concessions. Comfortable seating and great sound make this theater’s eclectic mix of movie options that reach beyond the mainstream absolutely irresistible to cinephiles who really enjoy diversity in film. This facility is also the Manatee County wing of the Sarasota Film Society, famous for hosting the popular annual Cine-World Film Festival.
